Ian Pigott runs a diversified farming business in Hertfordshire, U.K., which integrates conservation agriculture, education, farming festivals and environmental stewardship.
The business has been no-till since 2015 and is a LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming) demonstration farm. In 2014, Pigott built The Farmschool where he tries to reconnect young people to farming, food and the countryside through ‘Fork to Farm’ interactive workshops, cookery and outdoor learning. He is a Nuffield Scholar, the founder of the UK’s National Farm Open day and Open Farm Sunday, a Trustee of LEAF and a columnist for the Farmers Weekly.
Pigott is also a representative of the Global Farmer Network and was awarded an OBE for services to Agriculture and Education in the 2016 New Year’s Honors List.
