Ignacio Sánchez Recarte was named secretary general of the European Wine Companies Committee (CEEV) in June 2015. From 2011 to 2015, he served as director for Internal Market & Sustainability at spiritsEUROPE, the European representative body for spirit producers, in charge of spirit drinks and food policy, market access and economic discrimination within the EU, environment issues and illicit trade. He also worked for Bodegas Chivite, a Spanish wine group, as director of Environment Affairs and Innovation where he was responsible for the design and implementation of a long-term research policy. In 2004, Sánchez Recarte joined the International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV), the scientific and technical intergovernmental organization in the field of wine, as head of the Viticulture Unit (2004 to 2007) and subsequently head of the Economy and Law Unit (2007 to 2011). From 2001 to 2004, Sánchez Recarte was a researcher in the Food Technology Department of the Public University of Navarra.
