Jannes Maes is a farmer from Flanders in northern Belgium. He works on a dairy farm near the town of Aalter. Maes became CEJA’s (the European Council of Young Farmers) president in 2017. He is currently completing his second mandate as the president of the organisation.

He previously attended CEJA meetings while representing Groene Kring, the Flemish young farmers’ organisation.

He held various roles representing young farmers at local, regional, national and international level. He became a member of Groene Kring during his studies.

Maes’ passion for agriculture began when he was a child and led to his studying agriculture in secondary school and at university level later on
