Jeanette Wong is co-founder of the Clean Kilo, the largest zero-waste supermarket in the UK. Her ethos is to: sell plastic-free products, source as local as possible and reduce food waste. She and her partner co-founded the Clean Kilo to challenge the food system and its overpackaged supply chain by sourcing in bulk and selling without packaging. Wong’s aim is for the zero-waste food system to become ubiquitous, so that waste-free environment can be achieved. At Clean Kilo they sell most items one would expect at a conventional supermarket – including dry food, household products and toiletries. Wong and her partner have two shops in Birmingham and between those over 400,000 pieces of plastic have been saved from existing or potentially entering our environment.
