Stéphane Travert has been Minister of Agriculture and Food of France since June 2017. Prior to his appointment as Minister of Agriculture and Food, Travert served as deputy of the third district of Manche, a French department in Normandy. Although he ran and was elected on the socialist party ticket in 2012, he was re-elected in June 2017 as part of President Macron’s La République en marche party. He has been an advisor on the regional council of Normandy since 2016. From 2010 to 2015, he served as Lower-Normandy advisor on the regional council, in charge of fishing and maritime policy for European structural funds. In 2010, he served as chief of staff of deputy-mayor of Caen, Philippe Duron. He began his career in the industrial sector, working for Ocopa and then Ondulys. He studied business law.
