Clayton Bartolo was born and raised in Mellieħa, the hometown he now represents as a Member of Parliament. Bartolo has recently been appointed Parliamentary Secretary for Financial Services and Digital Economy, which includes within its remit the Malta Financial Services Authority, the Malta Digital Innovation Authority, the Malta Gaming Authority and the Malta Communications Authority, among others.
Bartolo is a Certified Public Accountant and a Registered Auditor by profession and brings to the table a fresh insight to his portfolio from a professional’s perspective. He is a keen follower of the latest tech trends and is particularly interested in Esports. Bartolo intends to take Malta’s digital strategy to the next level by ensuring that all strata of society, from children to the elderly, are included in this journey.
This ambition is the result of years of working with people from all walks of life through his political career which began at the tender age of 15 when he joined the Labour Party’s Youth Form. Bartolo was one of the youngest Members of Parliament elected on behalf of Partit Laburista in 2017 and until 2019 he served as a member of the Public Accounts’ Committee and the Economic and Financial Affairs Committee.
