Kaimar Karu is the Minister of Foreign Trade and Information Technology of the Republic of Estonia as of November 2019. He has worked at the intersection of IT and Business Management in the private and public sectors for over 20 years. His career started in IT Operations, followed by multiple roles in Software Engineering, Product Management, Project and Programme Management, IT Management, Business Development, Professional Development, and Management Consulting. He is a published author, an internationally recognised conference speaker, and an experienced trusted advisor at the CxO level, helping with and executing enterprise-wide exploration, expansion, transformation, and modernisation initiatives. As an IT-minister he participates in the elaboration of policies aimed at supporting the development of entrepreneurship, export development, involvement of foreign investments, innovation, information technology and postal services. Karu graduated from the University of Tartu in 2003 with a Degree in Philosophy. In 2010 he defended his Master’s Degree in the same speciality. He is fluent in Estonian and English.
