Nicolas Demassieux is Senior Vice President Research at Orange Labs, defining the research strategy and coordinating major research initiatives that involve over 700 engineers and Ph.D. students in multiple countries, and impose an active policy of research partnerships with SMEs, start-ups, large enterprises and universities. Previously, Demassieux was Director for Research and Strategy for Orange Labs from 2010 to 2012. Prior to that, he worked at creating an Internet start-up, in the area of big data marketplace from 2009 to 2010. He joined Motorola in April 1997 to help create a new research center in Paris, which he directed from 1997 to 2001, before taking lead of European research, and later of global broadband Wireless research at Motorola. External to his professional activity, he is interested in a large set of science domains, including: complexity, biology, evolution and paleontology, natural and artificial ecosystems, urbanism of digital life.
