Carlo Pettinelli is the Director of Consumer, Environmental and Health Technologies at Directorate-General (DG) for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and Small-to-Medium Enterprises (SMEs) at the European Commission, a position he has held since 2015. He also serves as a Member of Governing Boards at the European Medicines Agency (EMA), Bio-Based Industries Joint Undertaking (BBI), and the Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI). Previously, Pettinelli was a Director in DG Enterprise, and prior to that a Head of Unit in DG Education and Culture as well as a desk officer in DG Enterprise at the European Commission. He worked as an Auditor at the European Court of Auditors from 1994 to 1998. He holds a university degree in Economy and Business Administration from the University of Pisa and is a Chartered Accountant, Certified Professional Auditor and Certified Forensic Auditor.
