Looking at the roots of medicines shortages – SPOTLIGHT DISCUSSION 1

Petr Horák is currently the president of the European Association of Hospital Pharmacists (EAHP). He is author and co-author of several IF publications, numerous peer-reviewed journal publications and co-author of one textbook dedicated to paediatric compounding.

Since his graduation, he has been working in the hospital pharmacy of the University Hospital Motol, Prague.Horák served as head of the Department of Pharmacy at Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education from 2007-2014 and he continues there as a senior lecturer. He is involved in the activities of the Hospital Pharmacy Section of the Czech Pharmaceutical Society, where he held the position as vice president from 2010-2014 and president from 2015-2017.

Since 2005 he is the director of the pharmacy. Under his leadership, the pharmacy services in the Motol hospital were broadened by, e.g. oncology and clinical pharmacy services. Horák and his team are also involved in pre-graduate and specialisation education and training of pharmacists and medical students.

He graduated (MSc.) and obtained his PharmDr title in pharmaceutical chemistry at the School of Pharmacy of the VFU Brno. He holds the specialization in both community (2003) and hospital pharmacy (2005).
