BP is a global energy company with wide reach across the world’s energy system. The energy we produce serves to power economic growth and lift people out of poverty. In the future, the way heat, light and mobility are delivered will change. We aim to anchor our business in these changing patterns of demand, rather than in the quest for supply. We have a real contribution to make to the world’s ambition of a low carbon future. We have operations in Europe, North and South America, Australasia, Asia and Africa, and employ around 74,000 people.

The amount of traffic on roads and waterways in Noord-Holland will steadily increase in the coming years and technological developments are moving fast. Vehicles and ships are getting smarter and more autonomous.
The province of Noord-Holland is preparing for the future by adequately managing and maintaining its roads or expanding where necessary. But also by ensuring the optimal use of current road capacity. Our traffic lights and the Noord-Holland traffic control centre are among the most modern in Europe. Data on traffic flows are shared with commercial parties who use them for on-board computers and navigation systems in or on bikes, cars, trucks, buses and ships.
The provincial road N205 is fully equipped with smart traffic lights, making it the first smart road in the Netherlands ready for Talking Traffic. Another test area has been set up on the provincial roads around Schiphol Airport in order to experiment with new and innovative applications in the field.
