Marek Belka became a member of the European Parliament (MEP) in 2019 and is part of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs. He is a professor of economics with a broad international experience who was deputy prime minister, twice minister of finance and prime minister of the Republic of Poland.
Prior to working at the European Parliament, Belka headed the European Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and worked as president of the National Bank of Poland. He is a former member of the G20 Eminent Persons Group and former chairman of the IMF Department Committee. Besides his current parliamentary activities, Belka teaches as a visiting professor at the College of Europe Natolin and at the LSE Institute of Global Affairs.
