Robert Ophèle

Robert Ophèle was appointed chairman of the Autorité des marchés financiers on August 1, 2017. From January 2012 to July 2017, he was second deputy governor of the Banque de France and was a member of the Supervisory Board for the European Central Bank. Prior to that position, Ophèle was working at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York where he took up the position of director of the Management Control and Budget Directorate before being appointed deputy director general for Economics and International Relations and later promoted to director general for Operations. He started his career at the Banque de France where he worked in banking supervision implementing monetary policy.
