Jeanne Ponte is an Accredited Assistant to MEP Edouard Martin at the European Parliament, where she works for the Parliamentary Committees FEMM (Women’s Rights and Gender Equality), EMPL (Committee on Employment and Social Affairs) and ITRE (Industry, Research and Energy). In October 2017, Ponte broke news on gender equality and women’s rights by taking a stand against sexual harassment in the European Parliament. In doing so, she contributed to lifting a taboo in a place where structures of power are rarely questioned. In 2018, she launched a movement at the European Parliament to ensure the fight against sexual harassment became a key element in political campaigns. Ponte has an LLM in European Law from the College of Europe and is a recipient for the best pleading at the European human rights moot court competition.
