Luminita Odobescu

Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Romania to the EU

Ambassador Luminita Odobescu became Romania’s Permanent Representative to the EU in September 2015. Between 2012 and 2015, she was State Councilor at the prime minister’s chancellery and Adviser to the Prime Minister on matters related to the EU and foreign policy. She is a career diplomat and economist by training and held various coordinating positions within Romania’s ministry of foreign affairs. Between 2002 and 2007, she was part of Romania’s negotiating team to access the EU where she was responsible of negotiations pertaining to the energy, economics and monetary union, taxation and trade.
