Mohammad Naciri has served as UN Women’s Regional Director for the Arab States Region since 2015. Prior that, he served as the UN Women´s Deputy Regional Director for the Arab States. Naciri has extensive experience in the region and in gender and development issues. Previously, Naciri was the Deputy Country Director of the United Nations Development Programme in Yemen, where he worked on the formulation of its Gender Strategy. He has also worked in Kuwait, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Cambodia, where he dealt with issues from human trafficking to ethnic cleansing. Naciri holds a MA in Public Administration and International Development from Harvard University, as well as a MA in Social Anthropology from the University of Oxford.
