Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen

Member of Lithuanian Parliament and the chairwoman of Liberal Movement

Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen has been a Member of Parliament of Lithuania since 2015, she has been the chair of the liberal fraction in Parliament since then. Čmilytė-Nielsen is also Chair of Liberal Movement Party and a former member of Environment, Human Rights committees. She currently works in Education committee of Parliament of Lithuania. Čmilytė-Nielsen has been a professional chess player from 2000 to 2015, she was European women’s champion in 2011, she was awarded the title Chess Grandmaster by FIDE(International Chess Federation) in 2010, and is a two-time Lithuanian champion. She was a medalist of the women‘s world chess championship in 2006, as well as a winner of chess olympiad in 2000 and 2004. Čmilytė-Nielsen holds a Bachelor‘s degree in English Philology from the University of Latvia.
